IWCA Conference Recap: 2016

Amy LavinIndustry, Window Cleaning, Window Cleaning Business

A few weeks ago, we were on a plane headed to Florida for the IWCA Conference. We’ve been going to this conference for many years now. Still, each time, we have a great experience and appreciate the opportunity to meet incredible new people while connecting with existing customers. This year was no exception.

The conference itself raised over $4,000 from donations and the silent auction that went towards the local Boys and Girls club.

Our friends at Ettore celebrated their 80th anniversary. It was really awesome when we were presented with the next story. That was so wonderful and inspiring.

We meet Jan Demczur, the window cleaner that was stuck in the elevator of one of the Twin Towers on September 11th, 2001, with some other people. Jan was able to use the channel of his Ettore squeegee to pry open the elevator doors when the building lost power. When the channel fell down the elevator’s threshold crack, the journey did not end there. Jan and the others stuck in the elevator used the handle to dig through the drywall and into a bathroom where they escaped moments before the tower fell.

The story itself has been shared all over social media, and it was truly inspiring to hear it from the man himself.

We always look forward to the IWCA conferences and enjoyed this one. It was a privilege to hear from Jan, as well as celebrate the accomplishments of Jason and Omar. We look forward to the next IWCA conference and to be able to see all the innovation developing throughout the window cleaning industry.
